My Bra Size

Fuller bust and plus size

Plus size bras that fit and feel good

Plus size bras are made for larger bands, usually 40 and above. The best ones are built differently, not just scaled up, with wider wings, more hooks and stronger straps.

Plus size bras are bras made for larger band sizes, usually 40 and above. The best are designed for larger bodies from the start, with wider side wings, more hooks and stronger straps, so they stay comfortable all day.

Band size and cup size are separate

A plus size band can come with any cup. A 44C and a 44H are both plus size bras, with very different cups. Measure your underbust for the band and your bust for the cup; our bra size calculator does both and gives a UK starting size. Our UK bra size chart shows every band and cup in inches and centimetres.

Features that make a difference

  • Wider side wings that smooth the back and stop the band rolling.
  • Three or four hooks for a secure, even fit.
  • Wider, cushioned straps, often set closer together to stay on your shoulders.
  • Side support panels that keep the bust facing forward.
  • A higher back on some styles, to smooth under fitted clothes.

Which styles work?

Full cups give the most coverage and support. Non-wired bras with good support are popular for comfort. Moulded T-shirt bras suit fitted tops. If you also have a fuller bust, see our guide to bras for big busts.

How should it fit?

The band should feel firm and stay level on the loosest hook; you should fit two fingers under it but no more. The cups should hold all of your breast tissue with no spill or gaping. If the band feels tight, try one band size up with one cup size down, rather than an extender. The bra fitting guide covers every check.

Brands to search for

Elomi and Goddess focus on fuller figures, and Fantasie, Anita and Royce make larger band sizes in many styles. Check each brand’s size guide for its exact range.

Questions people ask

What size counts as a plus size bra?
Retailers usually mean band sizes 40 and above. Cup size is separate: a plus size bra can be a C cup or a K cup.
What makes a plus size bra different?
Good plus size bras are graded for larger bodies, with wider side wings, more hooks, wider straps and often a higher back, rather than being a small bra scaled up.
Should I use a bra extender instead of a bigger band?
An extender helps short term, but if the band is always too tight, a bigger band with a smaller cup (your sister size) fits better. See our bra extenders guide.
